Early Childhood Education

Campus Kids’ Corner, located on the campus of TN Technology Center at Crossville, opened its doors to the public in August 1997.  The preschool lab can serve up to 22 children ages 3 (and potty trained) to 5 years.  The preschool lab was opened to serve the general public and TTC students as well as provide a hands-on experience for the Early Childhood Education students, a program offered at both CCHS and SMHS.

High school sophomores, juniors and seniors may take Early Childhood Education classes 1, 2, and 3 after completing the prerequisite Child Development class taught at each high school.  Campus Kids’ Corner provides excellent hands-on experience for students wishing to learn about various careers involving children.  The high school students are trained to provide the children with unique, individualized preschool learning activities.  The Early Childhood Instructor and Preschool Lab Coordinator ensure a high quality of care and training.  Because Campus Kids’ Corner is a pre-school lab for high school students, it is only open and operating when Cumberland County schools are in session.  Snow days, teacher in-service days and summer vacation are examples of when the lab is closed.  Except in the case of emergencies, every effort is made to post the closing dates as early as possible.  When in session, the lab is open from 7:15am to 3:15pm.

The Center provides two snacks daily.  The child’s family is responsible for providing the child’s lunch.  CKC maintains an open-door policy on visitation—visitors are always welcome!
