1. Call TTCC 931.484.7502 x125 and have your name added to the Waiting List. Students are admitted on a first come, first served basis. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. FAFSA federal and state grants may NOT be used for this program. A minimum number of students is required for the class.
2. Attend a mandatory Preview Session in TTCC’s Building One:

CPR training
will be offered outside of regular class hours for an additional cost.
The CNA class is a 110-hour course which includes theory and clinical training
in basic nursing skills, patient personal care and hygiene, communication and
interpersonal interaction, ethical and legal responsibilities, infection control
methods, safety measures, rehabilitation and restorative care, and patient
mental health needs.
Employment as
a CNA typically requires the person to meet general health standards, and
requires heavy physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to
50 pounds, and lifting clients who may weight 200 pounds or more.
Pre-requisites for employment usually includes that the CNA must be in good
health requiring a physical exam, a criminal background check, and passing a
drug screen.
Upon
successful completion of the course, students are eligible to sit for the State
of Tennessee’s Nurse Aide Test to become a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA).
