Course Description:

This program is instructed by Sharon Barnes

BST provides the student with entry-level skills needed for a variety of office professional positions. Students receive practical experience on state-of-the-art equipment and study current versions of word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software. The curriculum emphasizes the use of technology as well as the development of ethics, interpersonal, and professional skills.

During the first two trimesters, all students complete a set of Core Courses. Upon successful completion of the Core Courses, each student may choose an area of specialization.

Accounting Assistant studies include accounting, payroll, computerized accounting and employability skills.

Administrative Assistant studies include transcription, desktop publishing, basic accounting, and employability skills.

Legal Administrative Assistant studies include legal terminology, legal ethics, legal office procedures, business law, and employability skills.

Medical Administrative Assistant studies include medical terminology, medical ethics, medical transcription, medical office procedures including medical records, and employability skills.

Health Information Technician studies include medical terminology, medical ethics, medical coding, medical insurance, medical office procedures including medical records, and employability skills.

An average grade of C or better must be maintained to remain enrolled.
