Course Description:
This course is instructed by James Nixon
. The work of the auto technician covers a broad range of light and heavy repair and calls for the ability to diagnose and trouble-shoot, make the right adjustments and determine the correct replacement of parts. Training in Auto Technology is taught by James Nixon and designed to give the students skills and technical knowledge which will prepare them for entrance into the automotive field. Units of instruction include engines, electrical systems, fuel injection, cooling systems, brakes, front end alignment and transmissions. The plan of instruction includes related technical instruction in the classroom and practical work using modern automotive equipment. Electronics training has also been added to the curriculum to prepare the technician for working with computerized electrical systems. . The Instructor is ASE Certified in all categories.

 Average Salary in Tennessee (TN Department of Employment Security) $13.23 per hour

Job Opportunities:
 Auto technicians are employed by specialty repair shops, independent repair shops and auto dealers. Generally, they work 40 – 48 hours per week. Overtime is common. Auto Technicians will be among the occupations with the most job openings. Opportunities are expected to be good for persons who complete formal auto training programs. Technicians commonly increase their pay and status by moving up to master foreman, superintendent of maintenance, shop manager or shop owner.
