COMPUTER INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, job growth for a Computer Support Specialists is projected to be faster than the average for all occupations.
Employment of computer support specialists is expected to increase by 14 percent from 2008 to 2018, which is faster than the average for all occupations. Demand for these workers will result as organizations and individuals continue to adopt the newest forms of technology. As technology becomes more complex and widespread, support specialists will be needed in greater numbers to resolve the technical problems that arise. Businesses, especially, will demand greater levels of support, as information technology has become essential in the business environment.

Type of Individual Best Suited for this Position:
Because computer technology changes so rapidly, operators must be adaptable and willing to constantly update skills. Computer techs must be able to communicate well in order to work effectively with others. They must be able to work independently because they may have little or no supervision.

Shane Hennessee and Jason Roger  from the Computer Information Technology program recently became CES Cable and Wireless Certified Professionals. They took their training on the new cable and wireless training system purchased for the CIT program.  After completing the ninety hour curriculum and taking their final test, these two students were presented with their Cable and Wireless Certified Professional Certificate.
